Thank you to National Lottery players

Up on the Downs has received £1.6 million from the Heritage Lottery Fund thanks to National Lottery players.

This donation has allowed us to make a massive difference to the chalk downland landscape of the Dover and Folkestone area, engaging and inspiring people to learn more and get involved with the heritage of the local area. Over the last five years we have improved 175ha of land for wildlife and people, bought 80 Herdwick sheep and 10 Highland cattle to help maintain it, created a sculpture trail and access for all path at the White Cliffs of Dover, mapped 255 military structures, provided 201 free training courses which were attended by 1167 people, awarded over 100 John Muir Awards to young people, given out £162,000 in grants to local community groups and much, much more.

We also built an Education Shelter at Samphire Hoe.

Come along and explore the winter wonders of Samphire Hoe and enjoy a hot drink in our wonderful new education shelter #ThanksToYou.
