The Up on the Downs scheme area has a wide range of archaeological and built heritage.  From Bronze Age barrows to World War II the heritage is rich and varied giving an insight into the lives of our ancestors and the military history of the area. 

Dover Castle and the Western Heights are both extraordinary and well visited heritage features but there is a lot more to discover, record and celebrate.

Projects have both restored some of the scheme area's most vulnerable heritage and also encouraged people to discover heritage for themselves and make a lasting difference to our knowledge of the area.
