Species Recovery: Wart-biter Bush Cricket

Decticus-verrucivorus

Applicant: Species Recovery Trust

Project: Species Recovery: The Wart-biter Bush Cricket

Grant award: £2000

There are only five sites in the UK where the Wart-Biter Bush-Cricket can be found and one of them is Lydden Temple Ewell National Nature Reserve.  This project ran a training course that gave volunteers the opportunity to learn about this rare species and take part in surveys to assess its status on the reserve.

It has also enabled habitat modelling to take place that has identified other suitable sites for the species that may inform future translocations and help increase the resilience of the species in the UK.  Take a look at the final report for the project.
